Founding the school

The school was founded in 1972 by the Dimesse sisters as a technical school with women from the locality. The first students took classes in dress making. Its foundation was an active response by the Dimesse sisters on the call by their Father founder: Fr. Antony Pagani on responding to the need of the time. In 1973, the first group of women completed their one year course. In 1974, the school population increased and girls from other parts of the country joined the institute, the school was registered the same year and it was given the name Njabini home science institute, the community around called it GITUMO.

Njabini Home Science & Secreterial College

In 1994 secretarial and principles of account courses kicked off leading to the change of the school name to Njabini home science and secretarial college. After two years the institute name changed again to St. Anuarite girls institute, the name St Anuarite was drawn from one of the most recent example at the time of Blessed Marie clementine Anuarite; who being a religious sister and out of the love of God, was killed when she resisted rape by invading rebels fighting the 1964 civil war in Congo. She has remained an epitome of integrity and wholesomeness to the girls who study in this school. From her example the school motto, vision and core values draw life.

Birth of St. Anuarite Girls Secondary School

On 29th January 2003, as a response to the sign of the time, St. Anuarite girls institute evolved to St. Anuarite Girls secondary school. The transition was successful with the community around embracing the change. The secondary school commenced with form one being admitted that year. From then up to date, the school has grown tremendously, from this progress the school is two streamed from form one to form four with a population of over 300 students.

The school also draws its inspiration from Fr. Antony Pagani, the founder of the Dimesse sisters his spirituality alongside that of St. Anuarite, stands to date as the heart that pumps into every vein of the Anuarite fraternity. The latter put it in mind that; God brought us here, humility will keep us going

Spirituality

At St. Anuarite Girls we are committed to the moral and spiritual development of our students. Faith in God and the values of trust, humility and compassion are interwoven in all aspects of education

Anchoring our students to the ways of God have always been in the heart of the school core values, we have always drawn our inspiration from St. Anuarite as the model of young people. Following her footsteps; those who study in the school realize that faithfulness to God will always bear fruits, and obedience to God will always lead to life. While the curriculum tests scores and grades at St. Anuarite we are also committed to shape our girls into people ready to serve others as good Christians in today’s broken world.

At the school we have several programs that helps us fulfill our mission of inculcating Christian morals and values to our students. The programs enrich the student’s spirit leading to tranquility and peace ingredients necessary for shaping morals today and in future.
